Well, as of yesterday, my Rays have put their 2011 baseball season to bed.
We lasted three games past our arch rival Boston Red Sox this year. I guess that’s something. While the Rays had an awesome season, they just couldn’t pull it out against the Rangers. The team lacks the heavy hitters. We really needs some thumpers, but with the current payroll, I doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon.
Every year that goes by MLB becomes less and less the Amercan Pastime. That’s a shame. I’ve been saying for about a decade now that MLB needs an NFL-like salary cap and profit sharing program in order to save the sport. Of course, this would require the owners’ approval. That would be like Wall Street bankers agreeing to tax themselves at 40%. Um-hmm… we all know how that vote’s gonna’ go.
Anyway, you done good, Rays! See you boys next season. 🙂
Oh, and this is for you Boston boys; just a little something to think about over the long, cold winter…
P.S. I’m rootin’ for them Motor City Big Cats to go all the way. GO TIGERS! (2nd choice… the Brewers. NO Yankees! NO Phillies! Maybe the Cards. 😉 )
