Dear Sir,
I am requested by the Council of the —- Association to return to you the draft of a paper on _The Truth of Alchemy_, which you have been good enough to offer to read at our forthcoming meeting, and to inform you that the Council do not see their way to including it in the programme.
I am,
Yours faithfully,
— Secretary.

Without wishing to give anything away, this one has one of the great moments of any ghost story … It also formed the basis of Jacques Tourneur’s superb film “The Night of the Demon”.
Ah, yes… another M. R. James fan. I had a feeling this posting would draw you out of the woodwork. 😉
Hope your Halloween was a creepy and fun evening, Himadri! Did anyone drop a bit of single malt into your sack? 🙂

Enjoy! Don’t forget the popcorn. 🙂
You say “movie”, I say “film”, let’s call the whole thing off…

Watched it last night. It still gave me that creepy feeling like when I was a kiddie. Good film! 🙂
